Poetry from young Dr. Suzi
I wrote these 'poems' when I was in high school (1974-78) in Iowa City
sounds...enter thru my toes
mingle up my legs
o what is music?
the chimes are ringing for us to hear
our ears will see the light
i'm sure you know just how i feel
so you won't have to see
the walls are grey and the windows are barred
the bed is broken
my pizza a jar
my fish eat breakfast at 2 and i eat dinner at 3
the end take it out and give it to me
i'm a yankee doodle dandy
she's my heart
the pink tutu, moving
with see-through agility
JUMPS on a toad.
& gets warts,
simply ruining its mesh.
that pink tutu
gets washed in the rain
is dried in the sun
turns very tough and is
used by a farmer
for pink chickenwire.
reflections of darkness contained in my lives
wander past...
leaving a glittering trail of thought.
expanding through time and mirrors,
returns to frustration.
panic jolts loose limbs,
reflected in darkness...as everything.
meandering through fields of flowers,
mirrors in the dark...reflection of a butterfly
swoops...
in the corridors of solitude
i find myself surrounded - smiling faces
round the corners.
run to get away from them
my efforts only wasted
smiling faces - pushing through the walls.
close my eyes and all i see - neon faces
smiling at me...watching...always.
dig myself a little hole
sure that i have foiled them
those smiling faces i never learned to love.
in the damp air of the night
i feel so content
smiling faces surround me...providing me with...love?
i never thought i'd find it
the smiling faces kept me very warm.
i know to love them
i was thinking about you
and you ended up in a box
the box was in view
it was placed in my head
programmed to tell
of the great and burning hell
you shall concede to me by touch
i may tell you i love you, much
things begin to settle into dark
Denounced it as treason
Boxing matches, cowboys and indians, atomic bomb
Don't be silly, everything's been demolished
It's going to be harder than i thought
Let's not talk about getting used to it
Please stay, I'm going to be alright
Just eat, don't go out there
What did you do to yourself?
There is no way back
I'm so far away
locked into a
box
they put me
here
to stay
I know
what
I want.
The eyes of time search
and see the end
they will never experience
it will be there
waiting
not for the eyes.
I see the lasting illusion
the PAIN EVERY ELEMENT MUST
suffer
I wonder why
HELL if I know
I'll try to find out
As others have before me
Some resort to DEATH
Some resort to GOD
Some DON'T EVEN CARE
where is the air
what is the sea
do you see
if not
look around
once hand-crafted
now molded.
someday a tribe will live again
solely on its own existence
by no one's standards
will it be right or wrong
just there
Live and kill to do it.
one must be quick
Flish Flash & Dash
fast.
the country smell
of hog shit
engulfs the gladiator
in his sea of meditation.
Don't you know you are so Great, Moses?
Obedient to God
A born epic hero
Jehovah blah blah blah
in Genesis, God is
the Teacher.
in Exodus, the Leader.
10 commandments
believe me
fuck you Egyptians
I am the God
Moses is a dummy
God thinks they're
unfaithful
bad eggs
Trust? Always screwing around.
Sabbath
You can't murder
oh, yes you can,
it's only against
the LAW. why not.
10 commandments.
three more hours
fifteen little old ladies
shooting at their
laundry
with rifles.
Is the way it is NICE?
a view a formality
a friend a foe
it's easy
is it not?
in the view of Hamlet
does a two-story outhouse
cure formality in life?
which is a necessity,
so as to have fun with the
King and Queen
when they're
downstairs.
Feedback welcome.
